Yiwon Park 'Unknown Familiar'

Unknown Familiar by Korean born, Sydney-based artist Yiwon Park presents a series of drawings and installations that explore representations of the rabbit across Eastern and Western cultures.

Drawing from a range of literature, urban fables and mythology, Park produces a range of hybridised renditions that are both obscure and whimsical. As the title Unknown Familiar suggests, the enigmatic characters Park creates in her work are similar to the ambiguous characters we might encounter in a dream-like landscape, mysterious yet oddly recognisable. Through her subtle and delicate approach, the narrative possibilities of each character remains unrestricted, alluring viewers to enter her evocative landscapes.
