After struggling to write the date for the past nine days and figure out how to deal with the fact that it is actually 2014. We thought we would give you an an idea of what's to come in 2014, so that you can act like everyone else is behind.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

After having a crush on Emma Stone ever since Mean Girls came out a whole 10 YEARS AGO we see her again in the sequel to last years revamp of the spidey series. This time it will involve a mean blue looking Jamie Foxx.

One of the best filmmakers going around, Spike Jonze brings us his latest masterpiece. Set in the not so distant LA, Samantha (Scarlett Johansson) is the voice of an AI operating system that Theodore (Joaquin Phoenix) falls madly in love with after what seems to be a rough break up. Imagine Sirri off your iPhone gathered up all your information and then created a personality based on it... Surely one that will get you thinking and perhaps even tearing up.

The Monuments Men

Mix together Inglorious bastards, Oceans 11, Saving Private Ryan and a sprinkle of The Big Lebwoski and this is probably what you would get. Also any film with John Candy or Bill Murray is definitely worth watching.

The Grand Budapest Hotel

With Wes Anderson you know what to expect by now. Perfectly framed shots, matching colours, and a slow motion shot placed with a song from the 60's. These people will all be in it too: Ralph Fiennes, Edward Norton, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe, Léa Seydoux, Jeff Goldblum, Jason Schwartzman, Jude Law, Tilda Swinton, Harvey Keitel, Bill Murray and Owen Wilson.

It will be great.

Game of Thrones - Season 4

Blood, Sex, Death, Harps, Meat, Magic, Midgets, Horses, The Devil, Swords, Kings, Queens, Dragons, Boobs. Just a few things that will be in Season 4. Everyone else will watch it so you should too.

Brazil World Cup

If you were to watch any world cup this would be the one! With Brazil considered the biggest and best football nation on the planet, this could also be one of the most turbulent world cups in history with the construction far behind schedule and much of the population protesting the vast amounts money that has been spent. Large protest crowds almost ruining the warm up tournament  last year. On the football side of the things though, Brazil will have to beat the reigning champions Spain who have won their past three major footballing tournaments, but the home soil advantage will surely put them as favourites to lift the trophy. There will also be the small matter of the Ronaldo and Messi show that will surely put Portugal and Argentina right up there as contenders. The biggest sport in the world also has the biggest tournament in the world. With over 1.1 billion people tuning in each day!

Sochi Winter Olympics

Definitely the cooler of the two Olympics. Russia will be the host for the most expensive Olympics in history, with the budget exceeding the original estimate by over 5 times to a whopping $51billion dollars! It will also be the warmest city ever to host the winter games. Australia will see our favourite hurdler Jana Pittman competing in the Bobsleigh. There will be a strong  chance of a Cool Runnings story repeating itself here.

Schoolboy Q

Following in the footsteps of fellow Black Hippie member Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q is about to release his first major label release on Interscope. With his previous album Habits & Contradictions making big waves in the rap game, "Oxymoron" is sure to cement him as a top player.

Lana Del Ray

After taking the Music industry and world buy storm in 2012, Lana is looking to drop her follow up to Born To Die. The NY starlet has had an interesting career, with a couple of stinkers early on she had a big image makeover and then hit the big time with tracks Born To Die and Video Games. In 2014 "Ultraviolence" will follow on from the short film she recently made, Tropico which was also released as an EP. Expect to hear this everywhere and have everyone talking to you about it. If you are a big fan then watch the full 27min not so short film below.

The Quirky little cats rose to fame with their slick album The English Riveria. Before that they were an odd bunch of boys from Brighton with keyboards and melodicas playing niche synth electro whilst wearing pound shop lights on their chest. Since then they have been transformed into a much more expansive visionary pop band. With the single The Look getting a strong hold on the charts. Their new album "Love Letters" should see them keep up their new found popularity.

Frank Ocean

After starting his career as a ghostwriter for artists such as Justin Beiber and Beyonce, Frank Ocean released his first album Nostalgia, Ultra though the Odd Future crew and then rose to fame with his first studio album Channel Orange, winning best Urban Album of the year at the Grammys. After confirming that he was working on his second album last year he revealed that he would be working with the likes of Danger Mouse and that he was keen to work with Australia's own Tame Impala. This one is going to be very very good.

Smart Watch

Finally this could be the year of the real life spy watch that everyone has been so keen for. Rumors have it that Apple will be releasing one. With the iPod Nano looking like it would fit on your wrist, it doesn't seem to far fetched for them to make an iPhone to fit there too. Google also has one in the works that will have a unique two-mode display that is both reflective like         e-paper and backlit like and LCD display.

iPhone 6

Another iPhone. Great. It will probably talk to that fancy smart watch you just bought. "Her" will become a reality with the new Siri. It would be great if it were actually voiced by Scar Jo, or even J Law! Rumours are that Apple are going to really try and reinvent the wheel with this one as they are looking to keep investors happy. New features may include - super slim design, bigger screen, better battery life, but thats what we always want. Let's be honest, who knows what they are gonna do. We will all have to wait to the second half of the year to find out.

Ultra High Definition TV's

You thought that HD was pretty good and that blue ray was a bit unnecessary? Well now there is Ultra HD or UHD. This will the quality that you see in your local cinema. That giant screen will now be squeezed into that flat screen in the corner of your lounge room. Imagine all the detail you will now get to see on the face of your favourite morning show host before you head out. Or maybe now you will never have to go anywhere, as the next David Attenborough series will be more realistic than the real thing.

Gay Marige

Just think of all those people who in 30 years will be looking back at themselves opposing this idea. In October a bill was passed by the Parliament of the ACT legalising same-sex marriage. However, the High Court claims that the legal change was never valid and an official reversal of the bill was announced on 12 December 2013. Two steps forward one step back. Lets hope that the next year will see us follow in the footsteps of the UK, Brazil, Sweden, France, New Zealand and many more!

Legalisation of Marujana

After Colorado became the first US state to legalise the drug for recreational use on New Year's Day, many of the companies involved in the trade saw their shares surge. According to one study, the cannabis industry could be worth $10 billion dollars by 2018 and that the long queues that formed outside the stores selling the drug was a sign that many other states may follow suit. New York has also made movements to legalise the drug for medical purposes. With over a third of Australians having tried the drug and 1 million Australians using the drug every week it seems that these laws could soon follow down under.
