Rains Raincoats

In the eyes of the rest of world, Australia is basically one big, dry desert surrounded by sun-drenched beaches. And while that may be true, those of us who live here know that we see our fair share of rainy days. In fact, last year alone Sydney had 175 of them and Melbourne had 158 – that’s almost half the year.

Why all this talk about rain? Well, we’ve just received our first delivery from Rains, a Danish label making some sharp attire to keep the drizzle at bay. The range caters to the lads and ladies, with a tidy selection of coats, ponchos and rainproof bags. The fit and finish is top-notch and they’re a far cry from that plastic-y yellow number you wore as a kid.

Umbrellas are out, raincoats are in – enough said.

Uniforms For The Dedicated

Uniforms for the Dedicated are a thirty-strong creative collective based in Stockholm. With an inclination towards experimentation with different fabrics and materials, they design and produce clothing collections with sustainability and curiosity at their core.

Their latest collection 'A Flock of Garments' combines classic shapes with a healthy dash of quirk and makes good use of environmentally friendly materials like hemp, organic cotton and recycled fabrics. The garments in question have that well-worn and comfortable look while remaining inventive and original.

Our selection for the season includes a limited number of t-shirts, shirts and cardigans that look right at home layered upon one another or matched up as you please.

Take a look at the goods right here and if you're in the need for a little spring time soundtrack, check this out.

Cake Wines Pop-Up Bar

Anyone who’s attended one of our events should know that we’re rather partial to a glass of wine or three. And who wouldn’t be, wine is one of the greatest gifts ever bestowed upon mankind.

Our friends over at Cake Wines share this sentiment. They also make a killer collection of wines that support the natural and longstanding relationship between wine and the creative community. This week, they’re hosting a pop-up bar in disused theatre in Surry Hills to welcome their next batch and announce the winners for the Archi-Bottle Prize (Australia’s second most prestigious art event).

It’s happening this Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 199 Cleveland St, Surry Hills.

See you at the bar.

Eastpak x Wood Wood

Branded collaborations have been the flavour du jour for some time now and, quite frankly, can often be a little hit and miss. Thankfully, we’ve just taken delivery of a resounding ‘hit’ in the form of Eastpak x Wood Wood’s ‘Desertion’ collection of bags and accessories.

The range successfully marries Eastpak’s urban exploring sensibility with Wood Wood’s relaxed graphic themes and features natural materials like tanned leather, nappy suede and waxed canvas. It’s weathered and wrinkled (in the best way possible) and sure to inspire your inner nomad.

Our selection consists of two backpacks, the Amos and Vidal, with only limited quantities of each now available.

Velour New Arrivals

The Velour story is one of family tradition and downright good fortune. It began in 1997 when Per Andersson rummaged through the storeroom of his grandmother’s old clothing store, which has closed its doors years earlier. Under a blanket of dust, Per cracked the mother load of vintage finds and decided to open a shop selling the dead-stock garments alongside his own remakes.

Fast-forward to the present day and Velour is now well established as one of Sweden’s most renowned labels. Having forged an identity through their clean, no-fuss approach to dressing, this season the brand’s vintage heritage has come to the fore.

We’re certainly not averse to change and it’s great to one of long time favourites steering towards a new direction. We’ve just taken delivery of selection of shirting and a particularly nice take on the classic varsity jacket, it may not get a lot of use over the next few months but definitely one to stow away for the change of season.

Dr Denim - The Devolution

While most labels grapple to present the next big thing, the folks over at Dr Denim are taking a decidedly different approach. This season, their Devolution collection explores the concept of regression and looking to the past for a more simplified means of existence in the present.

In doing so, they’ve presented a series of looks that take us deep into the wild. It’s a slight departure from the prim and proper aesthetic we’ve come to expect from these lads, but the label’s signature touches still remain.

With denim very much at the heart of what they do, this season brings a range of new styles to their denim program accompanied by a wide selection shirting, shorts, chinos and tops for ladies and gents.

Our Legacy - New Arrivals

Our Legacy return this season with their lates collection Carmine Tonic. Here's what they have to say about their latest offering.

"To have a style is very dangerous. It's like when people say that they are not political, only by saying that is political in itself. I have a style, but I do not want to have a style. My style is nothing. It's my way to make everything minimal, and concentrate to take away all unnecessary."

That's all well and good, but what's even better are the clothes themselves. Rugged wardrobe staples seem to have become the label's calling card and this season they continue that streak with a tidy selection of shirting, sweats and jackets that strike just the right balance between fit, finish and function.

Take a look at the goods right here.

Also worth a glance is their beautiful campaign imagery shot by the renowned and generally amazing Japanese photographer Takashi Homma - see it over here.

Pop-Up Store Launch Party

Ok, so it's not quite summer yet but we're so excited by the fair weather on the horizon that we've decided to open the doors to our Summer by Somedays pop-up store a little earlier this year.

The concept is simple - everything is on sale all the time.

The store is literally brimming with drastically reduced stock from the likes of Dr Denim, Suit, Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair, Velour, Whyred, Cheap Monday, Handsom, Carly Hunter, Gram and whole host of others, with new stock being added daily.

This year, we've crossed the Surry Hills divide (crazy, we know) and set up shop on Oxford St, Paddington. To celebrate, we're throwing a little party this Thursday evening with drinks, DJ's and some diabolical deals. Here's the details:

What: Summer by Somedays Launch
Where: 80 Oxford St, Paddington
When: Thursday 11 October, 5pm

It's a first in, best dressed type affair (literally) so arrive early and get first dibs.
